Classic Summer Reading

Every summer I choose a classic novel to read or re-read. This year I'm leaning towards The Count of Monte Cristo, though the time commitment is giving me pause. Other possibilities so far: The Satanic Verses, Stoner, Song of Solomon. I like the thinking and panelists behind this list from the Center for Fiction, so I'm using it to search for a few more contenders. What's on your summer reading list?
